Scripture: Mark 8:1-30

Discussion Questions

1) Mark was showing us that the Messiah fulfills Isaiah 35:5-8 with the healing of the deaf/mute and the blindman. In between Mark records 3 events regarding "BREAD."  Jesus is the Messiah who is the bread of life, nourishing our soul and transforming us to be more like him.  In v21, Jesus asks his disciples "Do you not yet understand?"

a. What do they not understand?

b. Why do they not yet understand?

2) Jesus as the Messiah and the Bread of Life asks this question of us - "Who do you say that I am?" People say many things about Christ BUT who is Christ to you? Share.

3) According to v34 &35, by taking up our cross and following him, it means "losing our life" for Christ sake and the gospel. What does that mean to "lose our life"? The speaker said we find our identity in many things that the world espouses. Describe what it means to lose our life for the sake of Christ and the Gospel. Practically, what does that look like?

4) How do you take up your cross daily and follow him? What does that look like? Is it easy or hard? Why?

5) Pray for one another
