What We Believe

  1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Scripture both Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. (2 Tim 3:14-17) We believe there is a single plot-line of the Bible and that is God's story of redemption (Luke 24:44) climaxing in Jesus Christ. This is the gospel; the story of creation, fall, redemption and restoration. It brings out the purpose of salvation, namely a renewed creation.

  2. God
We believe in One God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Mt 28:19, Jn 15:26)

  3. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Christ now is our High Priest and Advocate (Mt 1:18-25, Hb 4:14-16, Lk 1:35, Is 53, 1 Cor 15:20-23, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Pet 3:22, 1 Jn 2:1)

  4. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, during this age to convict men, regenerate the unbelieving sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service. (Jn 7:38-39, 14:16-17, 15:26, 16:13-14)

  5. Mankind
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and utterly depraved. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation leading to eternal life be obtained. (Gen 1:24-27, 3:1-24, Rom 8:7-8, Acts 13:48)

  6. Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. Salvation, however, is not finally in the hands of man to determine. His choices are crucial, but they are not the final, decisive power in bringing him to glory, God's sovereign grace is. (Is 53; 1 Cor 15:2-4, Rom 9:1-9)

  7. The Holy Ordinances
We believe that Water Baptism and the Lord's supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during this age. They are however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation. (Mt 3:15-16, 28:19, 1 Cor 11:23-26)

  8. The Church
We believe the true church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the head. (Mt 14:14-18, Acts 2:32-49, 2 Cor 5:8, Phil 1:23)

  9. Church Membership
We believe that only those who are members of the true church can be eligible for membership in the local church. (Acts 2:47, Jn 2:19)

  10. Church Government
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the church and that every local church has the right under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs. Being of the Presbyterian denomination we have councils (known as courts) of deacons and elders. Teaching and ruling elders are ordained and convene in the lowest council known as a session or consistory responsible for the discipline, nurture and mission of the local congregation.

  11. The End Times
We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (Rev 20:4-6, 1 Thess 4:14-18)

  12. The Final Judgement
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgement and everlasting conscious punishment. (Mt 25:46, Rev 20:11-15)
