- Have you noticed any church practices or traditions that started with good intentions but ended up being a barrier to the gospel?
- Mark 7:21 lists 12 evil thoughts that come out of the heart of every human being. What do you think Mark is trying to get across with a list that’s two times longer than Matthew’s (cf. Mt 15:19)?
- Do you agree that the human heart is capable of these evil thoughts? Why do you think most people ignore or tend to forget how evil our hearts can be?
- “Foolishness” (aphrosyne) is a dangerous spiritual condition where people don’t know God and don’t desire to know him as well. How can we ensure that true “wisdom” and the desire to know God becomes a lifelong endeavour for us? What kind of help is available for those who are struggling in this area?
