The old and new covenants and what it means to us

Yee Siew Meng

Scripture: Exodus 24:1-8

1) V. 10 & 11  The representatives of Israel were called into God's presence and it says ; "They saw God...and he did not lay his hand on  the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, ate and drank."

In your own words, Why do you think they could "see God" or "behold God" and not be struck down?  How is this similar to us today?

2) The ratification ceremony has the reading of the word and the sprinkling of the blood - What ceremony in Christianity today that would ratify the covenant that God made with us?  Consider baptism.

3) Jeremiah 31:31-34  Look at the passage and identify the difference between the Old Covenant and that of the new covenant as mentioned in this text.

4)  By default we will tend to obey and follow the Word and the laws on our own efforts but we fail.  Inn view of the difference between the Mosaic covenant and the New Covenant, how should we live our lives?

5) Pray for each other
