Discussion Questions

Rom 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
1. Reflect on this great truth. How has knowing that in Christ, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, you are now no longer under condemnation affect the way you live, treat others and repent of sin? Here's an article to help you think through its effects on our lives: https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/what-no-condemnation-does-to-a-heart

"God helps those who help themselves"
2. What do you think of this popular saying? Are there any specific instances where you have relied on your own strength to earn God's favour?

Rom 8:14 "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God."
3. God has adopted us as sons and daughters, and Christians have the incredible privilege of calling God the same way Jesus did. How does this change the way you view God? Share any challenges you may have with the concept of God 'adopting us' (i.e. growing up with an imperfect father or no longer have an earthly father who's around).

4. Pray, thank God, and encourage each other about the Spirit's role in our lives, specifically in helping us overcome the weakness of the flesh and leading us from "condemned" to a "child" of God.
